A common misconception is that a player can never be better than the club. There is no way to be above the competition. In recent times, however, Lionel Messi has been surrounded by the polar opposite.

Wasn't Messi one of the hot topics in the run-up to Barcelona's presidential election? Will the president, whoever he is, be able to keep Messi? The question of what will happen to La Liga if Messi leaves arises once more.

In other words, how will La Liga suffer if a superstar like Messi leaves? Will anyone watch this league if Messi leaves? There is no Ronaldo in the league; will anyone watch this league if Messi leaves?

Barca has defeated Juan Laporta in the presidential election and is now the new president. He had previously said that if he wanted to keep Messi, he would have to be the president. The media has already confirmed that Messi's partnership with Laporta is better than his rivals Victor Font and Tony Freixer.

It's unclear if Barca would be able to extend the Argentine forward's deal. His contract with the Catalan club will expire at the end of this season. Messi has not mentioned whether or not he intends to remain at Barca. He previously stated that he will make his decision at the end of the season.

That is to say, nothing is certain at this stage. Messi has already mentioned that if he leaves Bara, he will not join any La Liga team. Barca is the club he grew up with, the club he fell in love with. Messi must not consider playing against them in the league.

In that case, if Messi leaves Barcelona, La Liga will lose potentially the greatest player in the competition's history. Meanwhile, La Liga has suffered financial setbacks as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. Barca owes 1.2 billion euros on its own. Messi's decision to leave Spain as a free agent is not as straightforward as it seems.

Javier Tebas, on the other hand, disagrees. According to the president of La Liga, the league, which is one of the most successful in the world, has the financial resources to compensate for any losses.

"Because of the terms of the deal, (Messi) would not leave Barca," Tebas told Egypt's Channel Unsport. However, as I said during Cristiano Ronaldo's time with us, we are also financially prepared for this moment (Messi's departure).'

"The club agreed to abandon Cristiano," Tebas said, citing Ronaldo's departure from Real. This is something about which I have no opinion. However, I want the best players in the world to be there (La Liga). Neymar experienced the same thing. Cristiano Ronaldo is La Liga's all-time leading scorer. His absence has had an impact. The financial loss, on the other hand, was minimal. 'Because we'd prepared ourselves.'

Tebas said of the La Liga financial loss, "The financial loss hit two billion euros." However, we were able to get the total cost down to 1.1 billion euros.

Tebas's remarks on Laporta becoming Barca's president, Barca has finally gotten a new president after months of turmoil. It will be interesting to see how he manages it.
